I had two classes last Friday and they all did a great job! Here are the paintings.........drum roll please....
From the homeschooling group, we did two projects. One is the plains with mountains in the background. |
Two, is a wax resist technique that also uses tape. We made windows on our paper with the painters tape, and drew with a white crayon in each square. Then added watercolor and watched our drawings come to life. |
Those that had time even did a third painting of their choice. |
Our youngest boy, as you can see, likes strong color and made a good combination here. |
Here is our youngest drop in student for the day. She had a lot of fun and didn't want to quit! |
From my after school class, we finished a painting we started last week. She is wiggling a bit and I think the pic is a bit blurry. But, the colors are beautiful together. Good color mixing! |
We started with a two story home in a rural setting. See those bushes in front? It seems like you can see around them with the highlights and the darks in all the right spots. That is called "modeling" your subject. This makes a thing look rounded. |
Then we gave our home a nice path all the way to the front door. Notice it is darkest near the foreground and lightens up as you go into the background, while also getting narrower. This creates distance. It seems like you are looking into the painting. |
And back to my homeschool class. A good example of distance here. Lightest colors in the background, also no yellow in the background colors. Even green hills appear a blue green as they get farther away from us. Good job!!! |
Good example of the wax resist technique. The harder you press with your crayon and the lighter you brush with your paint, the easier it is to see what you have drawn. |
If you click on this photo, you will be able to see the great job of blending our artist has put in the sky on the left side of this painting. |
A peacock that takes center stage. Just like a peacock!!! |
This artist decided to make the background trees into clouds and did a really fine job. It really looks like a cloudy day to me. She also added fruit to the trees in the front with a deer close by. I think he is going to go eat some of the fruit. |
This painting is very pastel all over and I like the effect. The shading on the side of the building and inside the doorway are very well executed. Everyone did a great job. Thanks kids, I hope you are having as much fun as I am. See you next week. |
