More Sailboats!!

I finally captured a picture of the students working.  But only half the class, the rest were too fast.  I usually only get the camera out when we're finished and all cleaned up.  However, I like this shot and will try to get more like this in future classes.  They look so engrossed in their work.  As you look at their paintings you'll see similarities and differences.  Each one unique in choices of design and colors.  I like to let the kids be part of the decision makers in their paintings.  While I am drawing the composition with them, I tell them what I am going to put into my painting, and give them ideas of what they could do.  Then they start saying  what they are going to do differently from me, color-wise or content-wise that is.  And we all come up with some really nice artwork.  Ready for framing!!

Very nice intricate design on your sail and a great job on the palm trees with their shadows.  Notice there is more detail on the water that is closest to us and less detail on the background water.  This technique helps us create the illusion of distance.  Everyone did such a good job.

Here, our artist used a landscape orientation instead of the portrait orientation. I'm glad she did.  Lots of movement in the water!  The sailors are in for a fun ride!

Very beautiful colors of the ocean.  These ladies decided to add green to the water and it looks great!

Your island is darker and therefore looks closer. Very nice!  Your waves are very good, I can almost see the sailboat rocking on them.  Wheeeee!!!

Good job on your sailboat.  You can see inside of it!!  Nice palm trees too!

Great job on the palm trees and their shadows.  AND, you can tell your boat is going fast through the water because the waves are higher on the front of the boat and lower in the back.

This looks like a very calm day with a gentle breeze carrying your sailboat.  Peaceful!  Nice job on the palm trees and their shadows too.

Wow!  Very colorful, like your shirt.  Love the details in the sail.  Your islands look farther away because they are lighter in color and the palm trees are smaller, making them look far far away.
