Self-Protraits - small class today - fun lesson!!

This young man and his mom worked on his portrait together.  It is a difficult subject, especially in watercolor.  They did a really good job!  Just the right face shape and skin color.

Notice her hair draping over her eye, just like her portrait!  We worked on matching our skin tones. Using raw sienna, vermillion, yellow, and raw umber.  A little of this and a little of that until the paint closely matched the color of our hands.

Good job on that collar!  I can even see a shadow underneath it.  We worked on shadows too, around the eyes, on the cheeks and under the chin.

This young man had help from mom too, and wanted to use his oil pastels to color his self portrait in.  Much easier for the younger kids.  Good job to all of you!
And here's mine.  One of the kids said, "You have that bump on this side of your face..... You're going to put that in aren't you?"  lol... so I added a beauty mark.  :)  Then she added:  "You looked like that when you were a LOT younger, right?"  "Right..." I admitted.  We had a great time and truly missed the rest of the regulars.
